Sophia Bush-A Deserving Role Model

With the One Tree Hill cast reuniting in Paris last week, watching Chicago PD on Wednesday, and finding an interest in  TWLOHA (To Write Love on Her Arms), my obsession with the one and only Sophia Bush has risen to its highest degree.  Seriously, could this woman get anymore wonderful? Actress, social activist, and classic beauty, Sophia is a well deserved role model.  Instead of our generation admiring the pop artists who spend their last penny on gucci couture and boast their proclaimed fame in partying, drugs, and alcohol, our young eyes should be looking up to someone who helps us look at the bigger picture. By simply following Sophia Bush on social networks, I’ve been introduced to various non-profit organizations that target an assortment of issues, wonderful music, and the inspiration to express myself.  This blog could be a little bias and I’m not trying to point a finger at the ideal culture that is portrayed through popular music, videos, and interviews by commonly known actors and artists.  Simply, we all have the ability to choose who or what gives us passion, what we aspire to be like, and the life we want to live.  I’d just like to share why I consider Sophia Bush an all around great person:

1. She’s Brooke Davis

You can’t possibly think I wasn’t going to bring up One Tree Hill?  Her character went from an insecure, mistaken teenager who relied on guys for acceptance to an independent, sexy woman that pursued her talents and owned her own clothing store.  Brooke Davis teaches girls the power of being a woman, a great friend, and loving yourself.  If you haven’t watched the show, I highly suggest it.

2. She is one step ahead when it comes to music

Wanna know where I first heard of the wonderful Sam Smith? Sophia Bush’s twitter post. This girl is trustworthy when it comes to lovely music, I promise you.

She’s even in the music video for Carried Away by Passion Pit …

3. She encourages healthy hobbies

When I saw this post, I thought how awesome it was she was challenging others to do something for themselves.  It shows her followers a way to care for yourself and improve your health and body, which a great message in my opinion.

4. She supports various charities and foundations

This right here is the main reason why I look at this girl and think “She truly is inspiring”.  A month rarely goes by where I don’t update my newsfeed and become aware of an non-profit organization or cause that Sophia is supporting.  It’s wonderful.  She teamed up with Joe Fresh to design a t-shirt raising awareness  for LGBT equality shown in the second picture above. She’s collaborated with I Am That Girl, a charity that helps support the message that girls should accept themselves for who they are and also, Pencils of Promise, an organization that builds schools in developing countries.  As an animal rights activist, she has rescued multiple pit bulls and encourages fights against puppy mills.  Recently, she’s supported the “No One Else Can Play Your Part” campaign with TWLOHA, a non-profit that provides hope for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and thoughts of suicide.  The list doesn’t stop there, I could go on all night.

Let’s just say if you’re looking for somebody to provide positive outlooks on life and encourage social good in the world, Sophia Bush won’t let you down.  I only hope that other celebrities who have various followers and individuals that look up to them will begin to take this approach. Perhaps, it’ll begin to shape the minds of our generation to fight for change and love the skin they’re in.
